Through this work, the Audiovisual Research Team Interdís, delves into the character by using not only aesthetic narrative structures related to reality, but also ethnographic research methodologies, to narrate in a documentary fashion the life and work of the composer, conductor, and music professor Blas Emilio Atehortúa. He is one of the most important people in the history of the arts in our country and of the continent, during the 20th and 21st centuries. After the nationalistic expressions combined with impressionistic and romantic views which appeared in the first decades of the 20th century, music creation in Colombia began a very interesting stage of modernity in the middle of the last century. It is represented by very diverse trends, aesthetics, schools, and styles which are common to western academic music. Hence, it is precisely maestro Atehortúa, who best embodies with his life and work - a broad catalog relating to a wide variety of styles - the migration and establishment for each and everyone of these expressions. Using his words, he may be considered an eclectic and functional composer. Maestro Atehortúa has an overwhelming personality because of his multiethnic, Black and Latin-American roots. He is a decisive protagonist of one of the most important and productive stages of the creation of music on the continent. Blas himself, has generated a kind of legend around his life, which has interested and captured the imagination of thousands of followers around the world.
