They say that architecture is music frozen in stone...
The music for an organ which sounds under the high ceiling of a cathedral,
is the union of these two wonders in an infinite space where imagination and
the masterful hand of an architect-builder, the heavenly melody that flows
from the soul of a composer and the sensitivity and perfection of an
organist, enable this sublime act of creation in both the audience and
parishioners as well. Music inspires architects and cathedrals in turn
inspire composers, who write music for the king of musical instruments: the
organ. Rodrigo Valencia was born in a small town in Colombia, dreaming of
the great European cathedrals and the music he would play in them.
Rodrigo studied at conservatories in Cali, Bogotá and Florence. He was
Titular Organist at the Basilica San Miniato al Monte in Florence, Italy,
the city where he lived nearly 45 years. From there he developed his career
as a concert organist internationally. His dream came true: He played in
world leading churches and concert halls. His favorite composer was Johann
Sebastian Bach, but he was not frightened by the works of modern composers.
In fact, many of them entrusted him with the first performance of their
works. He was a great popularizer of organ music by Colombian composers,
premiering in 17 European countries and presenting American works of Pineda
Duque, Estrada, Figueroa, Velasco Llanos, Mesa, Valencia and Ramirez Sierra.
Music was his world, he was a married man to music...
We invite you to a wonderful journey through the most important cathedrals
in the world, following the track of Rodrigo Valencia, ambassador of
Colombian music.

Die Musik für Orgel, die unter der hohen Decke einer Kathedrale erklingt,
ist die Vereinigung dieser beiden Wunder in einem unendlichen Raum, in dem
Fantasie und die meisterhafte Hand eines Architekten, die himmlische
Melodie, die aus der Seele des Komponisten fließt, und die Empfindsamkeit
und Perfektion eines Organisten diesen erhabenen Akt der Schöpfung
ermöglichen, sowohl für Publikum als auch für die Gemeindemitglieder. Musik
inspiriert Architekten und die Kathedralen wiederum inspirieren Komponisten,
die Musik für die Königin der Musikinstrumente schreiben: die Orgel. Rodrigo
Valencia wurde in einer kleinen Stadt in Kolumbien geboren. Er träumt von
den großen europäischen Kathedralen und der Musik, die er in ihnen spielen
würde.
Rodrigo studierte an den Musikhochschulen in Cali, Bogotá und Florenz. Er
war Titularorganist an der Basilika San Miniato al Monte in Florenz,
Italien, der Stadt, in der er fast 45 Jahre lang lebte. Von dort entwickelte
er seine internationale Karriere als Konzertorganist. Sein Traum wurde wahr:

die Uraufführung ihrer Werke an. Er war ein großer Verbreiter der Orgelmusik
von kolumbianischen Komponisten, hatte Premieren in 17 europäischen Ländern
und mit amerikanischen Werken von Pineda Duque, Estrada, Figueroa, Velasco
Llanos, Mesa, Valencia und Ramirez Sierra.
